Why on earth would you get your babies ears pierced???

Woman walks into Claires Acessories with her 16 week old baby and asks how old they have to be to get her ears done. Answer 4 months but must have had her jabs. Ok mom replies, lets do it.

Poor screaming baby has pain inflicted on her uneccesarily so mum can show off her oh so fashoinable baby.

Why????

I was so [shocked]

I could never cause my baby undue pain and discomfort. What makes people do this??

ok, well I am off to bed, to sleep in my council house bedroom, which is paid for by the council benifit dept. atm and see to my dd1 who has woken up.

dadofthree · 21/01/2006 02:33

come back to say goodnight, as it were, I have to be up soonish. youre right tho, most people cant imagine what its like until they're in it themselves - so dont be bothered with them.

nightowl · 21/01/2006 02:35

ok sparkly, have a nice night in your comfy bed, in your comfy bedroom, paid for by the council. dont forget you have that appointment for your kids at the tattoo parlour tomorrow will you?

nightowl · 21/01/2006 02:36

goodnight dadofthree, i need to take lessons from you i think. need to not care what people say!!

vicimelly · 21/01/2006 07:31

Oh thats what it is, how stupid of me not to realise that dd ears are pierced because I'm on benefits and therefore must be intellectually challenged, duh. Thanks for letting us on that little pearl of wisdom,

kiskidee · 21/01/2006 09:15

i don't live in a council house, not on benefits, have a 1st class honours and I don't mind seeing babies or small children with earrings. i guess it is because i was raised abroad in a culture where it is common to have earrings in babies. that said, i wouldn't let someone in claire's pierce my baby's ear. i would hate someone judging my sister as chavvy because my neice's ears are done. in fact, i bought her some earrings.

Meanoldmummy · 21/01/2006 09:33

I've been on this thread protesting loudly against ear piercing for babies - but I founf Pisces' remarks pretty shocking and vicious. I have a particular view on the piercing - but I don't hate whole tranches of the population or look down on anyone who hasn't got a fat salary and their own home. It's a despicable, nasty attitude, Pisces

I DO think piercing babies' ears is cruel and unnecessary though.

sparklymieow · 21/01/2006 09:52

Nightowl, that will be the appointment at 11am, i will see you there so your kids can have their nipples pierced.

JennyLee · 21/01/2006 10:55

Okay meanoldmummy - Truce, I'm a sure that we are both nice people and lets move on I don't like ill feeling either so I agree, no more sniping from me.

Meanoldmummy · 21/01/2006 11:15

Thank god for that

Meanoldmummy · 21/01/2006 11:18

Most of the people I know who have peirced their baby's ears have more money than me, I don't think it is a 'class' issue at all, I just hate it.

Pisces, you are out of order.

kiskidee · 23/01/2006 00:34

has any one else come across another thread where Pisces has posted? s/he looks troll-y to me.

sparklymieow · 23/01/2006 00:42

Yes I have, she posts on Special needs, which is what shocked me TBH.
