Dog poo rant!!!

My parents just dropped in and managed to tread dog poo all over my living room floor. Because some stferbrains irresponsible dog-owner has let their beloved pooch cp right outside my front door, various people have already stood in it so it's spread all over the pavement (door opens straight onto street from front room - no buffer zone). So after I had cleaned inside I was out on the pavement with bleach and hot water trying to swill it away before dh brings some in too.

I am not well, already feel like death warmed up..spent Monday night with the lovely sickness and diarrhoea bug that seems to be doing the rounds, spent last night looking after ds1 as he threw up about a hundred times. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CLEAN UP AFTER OTHER PEOPLES' FLAMING DOGS!!!!

Do you think the same people who let their dogs poo on the pavement, in parks, and on school playing fields would be quick to object if I threw the contents of my toddler's dirty nappies out on the street?

marthamoo i stood on dog poo yesterday because you can't see it with all the leaves on the floor,is absolutely revolting!!i then came home and our dog had diorrhea on MY KITCHEN FLOOR!!i made dh come from work to clean it up,he's the one that gave the dog bbq chicken the day before!!

marthamoo - much sympthaties - how awful. I LOATHE dog poo too. If found washing the pavement outside with a strong solution of bleach and water did the trick in preventing the dogs from returning to the site. I was also very very tempted to use some chilli powder too - although my consceince got the better of me.

Whymummy - agree with the falling leaves concealing danger. Its especially bad as DD loves to wade though them and I get paranoid

Right at this moment hate dogs full stop. Found dog poo on the front wheel of my 3 wheeler buggy and is had rubbed onto the underneath of the foot rest. Found it as I was putting it into the boot of our NEW car so sh*t in there as well now. Had to use cotton buds to clean it from all the nooks and cranies of the buggy tyres and foot rest. Just calmed down with nice cup of tea and thought I may get 5 mins to read the paper whilst ds slept. Oh no next doors mut started barking like a dog possessed and ds now awake. If you gotta have one have them trained ffs.

It's not the dog's fault!! They are taken on walks specifically to sh*t. It's the owners fault for letting them do it on the pavement!

I know its annoying, I hate it too, but really it isn't the fault of the animal.

Queenie - couldn't you have hosed the wheel rather than get so close to the sh*t with cotton buds?? You must have a stronger stomach than me, I always just hose the wheels down.

Ok there are some with doggy bags (eeuurrgghhh)but there should be no fouling in public places at all.
It is not fair.

One man used to bring his dog outside my parents house to crap and pee. My father got so fed up of this, having asked the guy not to do it on several occasions, he threw a bucket of water over the dog. He did it from the upstairs window, and , oh dear, soaked the 'caring' owner at the same time.

My uncle once cleared up some dog mess, and followed the dog and owner home and gave it back to them!

marthamoo, I am the other end of the scale - a dog owner. However, I would never dream of letting our dog s**t outside someones house it is the worst possible thing, so you have my sympathies. Just to say I think there are dog owners who pick up pooh and those that don't. Several people down our road have dogs and let them go and I have never seen them bend down and put in a bag. Also agree that leaves do tend to hide it all this time of year so you have to be extra vigiland. I also have two young children so take extra care to clear up mess.

Doormat - I know, that was my point. Owners take them out to allow them to sh*t outwith their garden. I was just saying that it's not the dogs fault that the owners do this.... it is very much the owners fault.

My parents had small dogs when I was younger. We had a big garden so the dogs were allowed to run about there... and do their business there. My Mum would pick it up if they pooed on the path or lawn. More often than not they would do it at the back of the garden amongst undergrowth and fir trees. Once a week they were taken on a loooooonnnng walk to the local football park. But they were always let out into the garden first to do what they needed to do.

I'm not keen dogs and would never have one, but give them a break folks. Shout at the owners!

HMB - I think that is an awful thing to do to a dog!! Who cares about the owner, it is disgusting and terrible that the guy continued to take his dog there to sh*t. But really??? A bucket of water over the dog???

I agree, I always clean up my dog's poo (have to as dog is size of small horse so poo size of horse poo). It keeps your hands warm on those cold winter mornings......

M2T, Realy? we always used to wash our dog, it got wet, dogs get wet when it rains, dogs jump into rives, ponds, the sea? they are mammals, with thick coats that are waterproofed with oils, perpose designed to help to keep them warm and dry? It wasn't cold water. I've seen dogs jumping into rivers when it is very cold.
In actual fact dad was mostly aimimg at the owner. But I don't think that it is 'awful'

M2T, absolutely - it is the owner's fault, and if you are not prepared to clean up after your dog you shouldn't have one.

Worst dog poo story ever (stop reading if you are not of a strong disposition)...

A friend of mine took her 4 year old DD and 1 year old DS for a walk to a local park. When they got back, she got DS out of the pushchair, and left him in the kitchen, while she went into the living room with DD. She was only in there a couple of mintes and when she went back into the kitchen there was the unmistakable smell of dog poo. Her DS had got hold of one of her shoes, which she had left by the back door, not realising that she had stepped in dog s**t and he was COVERED in it. He had it on his clothes, in his hair, on his face, hands, and - yes - probably - in his mouth.

And of course, not the dog's fault, but, as my friend said, she wished the owner of that particular dog could have witnessed her, crying and nearly throwing up, while she scrubbed her son clean under the shower.

HMB - I have jumped into a cold river before too for a swim and I've had a bath. Still think that it slightly different than having a full bucket of water drop on from a height!! It probably hurt the poor thing (the dog, not the owner BTW).

I once trod, slipped and fell into a pile of dog poo (may have been a small horse from the size!). It was inside my shoe,up my leg and all over my jeans. I was on the way to work and was at the end of my trip into work , that took a hour long train ride. So I had to go into work, and washed my clothes. I wore a lab coat all day to hide my naked legs! Ironicaly I was working in a vet school at the time......

M2T I doubt that very much. The force on the dog caused by the water falling would be similar to that coming out of a shower head under pressure, or that of a dog entering a river at speed.(the force being the product of the mass moving and velocity)

And if the guy wasn't hurt (in your opinion) how could the dog have been hurt?

NO hmb - I meant I wasn't concerned if the guy was hurt or not, just the dog. That's what I meant.

My ds has showers. I could save a fortune if I just stood him outside and chucked a bucket of soapy water over him from the bathroom window! I had no idea it was exactly the same!

Please... I wasn't looking for an argument about it, I merely pointing out that it was rotten to take it out on the dog!!!!!!

And as I said, dad was mainly aiming at the dog. The procedure was never repeated, as the guy stopped bringing his dow to crap outside my parents home.

Worst dog poo story ever? OK then. A neighbour of ours shoots dogs and cats if they go onto his land. The police don't do anything about him even though he's been reported. Why? Well about 20 years ago he had a bad motorbike accident, broke his leg and scraped it into some dog poo in the gutter. = gangrene, =amputation. So he hates the creatures, and cats for good measure because he thinks they decimate birdlife. We've lost a couple of cats, who knows if they died at his hands or not? But dog poo is no joke. I don't condone what he does, it's awful for the poor animals, but he certainly manages to keep them off his land.

I hat people who let their dogss poo and dont clean it up and I have got 2 dogs. Mine will only ever do it in the back garden!
