funny phone calls

Every day i have been recieving calls from athe same number which I can't ring back as it says not recognised.Is there any way I can trace the number?It is driving us mad and I am worried it will be some scam that shows up on our bill It begins 0118 which is Reading but we don't know anyone there This has been going on for weeks!

do you have a BT line?

If so, call them and tell them that you are receiving nuisance calls

it could be one of those sales calls that is actually automatically dialled by a computer but doesnt always have enough sales staff to handle the call if you answer it, hence it hangs up.

Still get the occasional call which I'm sure is a sales one where they speed-dial several numbers, take the first call that answers and hang up the rest, usually just as I pick up. We even get them while on TPS

Agree we get a lot of sales calls even the ones that are connected take a couple of seconds to click in which leaves you saying hello a couple of times like an idiot. I automaticlly hang up now if they don't speak after the first hello. If it is a crank call they will soon get fed up. Have you tried 1471 get the number and let BT know if it is an auto dialler they need to take action.

Yup, I would call BT with the number and report it for making nuisance calls. Although if it was someone making such calls, I think they would probably withhold their number. More likely that it is a sales company generating calls to you.

phone bt and ask for choose to refuse which will block the number from calling u but tell them it is for nuicence calls and u will get it free

spacecadet it was one of those pre dialled calls I have set up a service to bar them!Very annoying
