I keep seeing paypal mentioned but don't really understand what it is or how is works. How do you set it up? Does it mean you can not get your hands on any money paid to you via paypal except when you make payments using that method?

you can link paypal to your bank account, and any money thats in there you can transfer to your account. I try to do in larger amounts, and plan ahead as it takes 5 days to transfer.

You can also take money from your bank account to pay someone using paypal.

www.paypal.com to set up an account. its very easy and handy if ebay-ing.

go to the website paypal.com to set up an account - you can set it up with a linked bank account so you can transfer money from your paypal a/c to your bank asnd vice versa.

Its easy to set an account up using their website. I have used it in the past for paypal and some other websites. Its a secure way of paying someone or getting someone to pay you.

If someone has paid some money into your account then you can either use it to pay someone else or get it transferred to your bank account I think.

Does it matter what sort of bank account you have?

great minds think alike

i dont have a 'proper' current account with switch, cheques etc just cardcash with visa electron and that is fine - dont think it matters.

Lonelymum · 16/01/2006 09:52

I mean, my bank account is a joint account with dh, which I shouldn't think matters, but it is not an online account, which I should think does matter.

On line account doesn't matter, they just pay the money into it when you request it. I have a paypal account that lets me send people an e.mail saying how much to pay and they can pay in via visa or switch etc. so they don't need a paypal account.
