Announcing the arrival of:

I thought it was about time someone started up a birth announcements thread so us nosey types can keep up with the new additions.

So I would like to start the ball rolling with announcing the arrival of the sluglet, otherwise known as Alexandra Ngaire, born on the 30 of October. The less said about the birth (forceps...ugh) and the 5 days in the ICU the better. Suffice to say she's at home now and incredibly cute.

Slug, congrats too! Excuse my ignorance but your dd's middle name is very unusual, how do you pronounce it and where does it come from?

In the words of the great Sir Cliff, 'Congratulations and celebrations....'. My love and best wishes to you all!

Slug · 08/11/2001 14:52

Jodee, it's pronounced nyree as in Nyree Dawn Porter. It's a maori name as I'm a kiwi. I wanted it for the first name but dh, rightly I suppose, thought no one would be able to pronounce or spell it.

Slug, just saw this thread. My husband grew up in NZ and has very fond memories of it. Are you having to make lots of newsy phone calls across the world at the moment?

Anyway, congratulations and hello sluglet!

I had my baby girl 6 wks ago and have just come back to mumsnet. The birth was very quick and much nicer than I had hoped it could be. She is gorgeous but I am knackered!
