Anyone had a new window put in from scratch?

We live in a house with beautiful views across fields from the back of the property. The only problem is,upstairs where the best views are, only dd's room has a window looking out in that direction.

We need to knock the bathroom & toilet into one & totally replace everything in there. There is already a window to the side with a lovely outlook over gardens, but I was thinking of having a new one knocked out,to look out over the back. That would mean that we could lie in the bath & look out in two directions & get a wonderful view each way.Plus you'd get to see the stars at night.

I'm sure it would make the house more saleable in future, but was wondering if anyone had any idea of cost & how easy it is to do? I'm not bothered about disruption /mess as its going to be a building site anyway.

Thanks.

We did, Mirage - similar set up - but it was part of a huge job so I couldn't tell you how much.

It's not that big a job - upstairs will need scaffolding, and then they will have to knock/cut a hole or 2 (depends on size of window), put support things in (Acrow?), widen the hole, put a joist across and then knock some more bricks out to the size you want.
