trying to download pictures onto members profile from computer file but it is saying picture must be smaller than 100k - how do I do that?

open the picture in a photo editor (eg photo shop, photo paint, think there's a free windows one or something too), go to "save for web" (or similar) and select jpg and "medium" or 50%.

Get someone else to do it for you - that's what I always do

You need to resize the picture, mummygow. I know that this is regarded as torture by most Mumsnetters.

Try this.

Find the picture in 'My Pictures' (assuming that's where you've put it). Right click on it and choose Open With -> Microsoft Photo Editor.

Then choose Image from the menus at the top. There is a Resize option.

The problem is, knowing how much to resize the picture means knowing how big it is now. If you right click on it in My Pictures and choose Properties it will tell you this.

Hope that helps - if you can tell me how big it is, I can tell you how much to resize it by!

thank you for your help, tribpot I didnt have Microsoft Photo Editor so I used the web option senorapostrophe.

Marthamoo mumsnetters are the oly clever people I know!!

The only thing is I didnt download my pictures together - rather silly so I had to do 2 threads.
