if a friend was claiming benifits and their partner was working on the side, and yet she is still claiming full benifits? Also if you knew that she was applying to chartities for items for her disabled child when you know that if they declared the earnings that they wouldn't be allowed to apply?

didn't even think about the tax thing tbh. I just find it hard to look her in face knowing what she is doing, I don't see much of her now but its still bugging me.

my dh works all the hours he can just to keep our heads above water...we cant afford a holiday in this country let alone abroad...I find it hard to deal with when people are de-frauding the system like this...but agree it would be hard to shop a friend

people DO get found out. an auxilliary nurse in edinburgh was recently sent to prison for falsely claiming tax credits to the tune of about £9,000. she was living w/a partner who was working and not telling the benefits people.

i'm sure her kids suffered for having their ma in jail.

flutterbee · 13/01/2006 19:47

Ring benefit fraud and tell them all about it, I was in a similar situation a few years a go a very good friend of mine was claiming everything and reciving grants and getting her college education all for free, I on the other hand was struggling to hold down my job and keep myself housed.

At the end of the day I do not mind my taxes going to help people who need help, I may well need it myself some day but when someone is getting money they are not ettitled and obviously don't need to go on holiday etc then I start to get mad.

SHOP THEM STRAIGHT AWAY

misdee · 13/01/2006 19:49

i am 99% certain i will. i have a feeling the mum may get off lightly because of their disabled dd. i know more about the situation than whats on here.

Blossomhill · 13/01/2006 19:52

It just annoys me how many people flout the system. Unfortunately it is made too easy for people to do.

This lady I know is claiming benefits as a single person, but her partner is living with her and earns good money. She has done this for over five years. She was reported to Housing Benefit and they interviewed her. She said he wasn't living there. He moved out for a week, even though he was there every evening. She's not heard anything from them, they may have chosen to let her get away with it or collecting evidence, i dont know. Its seems so unfair when so many people are stuggleing to get by and others are getting money they dont deserve

i claim benefits as i only work part time and ive always been really honest because all my family and friends work full time and ultimately it is the tax payers who give us benefits. the worst that can happen is that theyd be asked to pay it all back. it really pisses me off that they holiday abroad!

i reported my ds1 dad to CSA and my MP for claiming all benefits (housing etc) and pissing off abroad to work and coming back to his Paid for house. they did nothing, the MP wrote and said it was difficult to do anything because of the paperwork basically. bloody out of order.. shop em.
