ok, I have aload of c**p in my garden that I desperatly need shifting such as a washing machine, the living room carpet and other things to big to take to my local skip on my own. I was wondering would it be a house clearance company that could help or is there another service? I couldn't hire a skip as I would have no where to put it.

Please can someone tell me ??

TIA

Contact your local council. They usually have a service for collecting large items of rubbish. You may have to pay, but generally it's nominal fee of £10 or so.

You could try a "man and a van" service. We have one we use at work when we need things moving around, but they will also take things away that need dumping.

contact your council like freckle said - we did that a few years ago and they took away everything ( except it was £25) in a great big flat bed truck
cheaper than a skip ( skips can go on the street but you need a
special license)

I did the council thing when I moved in here a few years ago but they said you need up to ten big items before they will do it.

surfermum I've never heard of that "man in a van" service before just wondering what it would come under in the yellow pages lol

Whats house clearance?

Try your council again megandsoph, they may have changed their policy. My one seems to have a different one every year.

i have a feeling some councils do a free service for pick up of rubbish, max twice a year, then you will have to pay

so you may get it collected for free!

Have you had a look in your local paper under gardening services etc.

megandsoph · 11/01/2006 10:31

"You see grandpas being left on sofas in the morning so people can get a van and collect them later" hehehehe

I will try the council again thanks girls!!!

Sorry, megansoph, had a toddler to see to and a kitchen to clean! You could try looking under removals. Round here they advertise in the local paper/free ads too.
