ok, I have aload of c**p in my garden that I desperatly need shifting such as a washing machine, the living room carpet and other things to big to take to my local skip on my own. I was wondering would it be a house clearance company that could help or is there another service? I couldn't hire a skip as I would have no where to put it.

Please can someone tell me ??

Contact your local council. They usually have a service for collecting large items of rubbish. You may have to pay, but generally it's nominal fee of £10 or so.

You could try a "man and a van" service. We have one we use at work when we need things moving around, but they will also take things away that need dumping.

contact your council like freckle said - we did that a few years ago and they took away everything ( except it was £25) in a great big flat bed truck
cheaper than a skip ( skips can go on the street but you need a
special license)

I did the council thing when I moved in here a few years ago but they said you need up to ten big items before they will do it.

surfermum I've never heard of that "man in a van" service before just wondering what it would come under in the yellow pages lol

Try your council again megandsoph, they may have changed their policy. My one seems to have a different one every year.

i have a feeling some councils do a free service for pick up of rubbish, max twice a year, then you will have to pay

so you may get it collected for free!

Have you had a look in your local paper under gardening services etc.

Sorry, megansoph, had a toddler to see to and a kitchen to clean! You could try looking under removals. Round here they advertise in the local paper/free ads too.
