Taunton anyone?

Anyone live in or near Taunton (Somerset)?

DH went to school there (lived in Minehead) and we are thinking of moving there after all our travels!

Plan is to look at houses this summer.

Any tips or info greatly appreciated.

I'm moving to that general area within the next month or two! I'll be renting but following this thread with interest

We moved away from that area recently ( of you) although we plan to return (Ilminster) when I graduate.

We both know the area really well, where are you looking at exactly? there's some lovely bits, and some absolutely terrible-not-with-a-bargepole ones: see inner and outer circle, for example. personally I'd go for one of the villages like Ruishton, the areas near Taunton School (all nice), Kingston St Mary (lovely) or West Monkton. Bt if you fire any road names here, I'll check out with Sis (whose FIL owns a business and lives there), as well as racking my brains.

Can I bank on your support at the Taunton carnival this year then? And, you know, we're always looking for kid members...

Thanks Peachy! Prob looking around Taunton School as that is where DS (now 4) will be going hopefully. I do not know area at all - bar one quick visit about 17 years ago!

Don't know when DH will finish up here in Budapest but we probably wouldn't be there full-time for about 4/5 years.

But I feel all excited knowing we have a plan!!

Local to the school would suit then, but (assuming they still do it) they used to collect from some of the villages too- a friend of mine used to drive the bus, my sis married an ex Taunton schoolboy, I was engaged to one (but panicked at the last mo!) and other sis nearly amrried one too- dangerous lot, they are

Do keep an eye out for Kingston St Mary / Nailsbourne area then houses out there are nice, and school is on right side- 10 minutes drive max, but there is a small green belt.
