OK help me be right.
DH ordered a table to be made for the kids, ds1 is 4.9yr and 110cm, he was slumping over the old 45cm kiddie low table. This will be his drawing table and dining table.

The table DH ordered is 60cm, way too high, the standard chairs for kids are 31cm high at the seat and on one of those ds1 has to reach up too much to use the table easily.

What do you reckon

Come along now, don't let Martianbishop be the only one to get excited over the calculations.

Just read a module on handwriting for my postgrad dyslexia course - desk should be approx half height of child according to this. 60cms would seem about right - you'd need to find a chair that when he sits down his elbows are about the height of the table.

But his feet still need to be comfortably on the floor.

You are such a fibber, suzy. Ds1 cannot possibly be nearly 5 - he's 3, and ds2 is a gorgeous crawling baby.

suzywong · 07/01/2006 14:26

HA!
ds2 can ride a bike like a demon, with stabilisers, and can scale the screen door and weats big boys pants all day.

xx

If you got an adjustable chair (Tripp Trapp eg) the height of the desk won't matter.

Ds (heading for 130 cm) is too big to use his at the kitchen table so it's doing brilliant duty as a piano stool, where exact height matters.

Twiglett · 07/01/2006 14:46

oh god suzy .. this is really dull

suzywong · 07/01/2006 14:49

it's been 37 degrees today, my brain has sauted

dull it may be but I NEED to get this one up on DH, come on you know how it is
