Here, but please don't look if children are present or you're easily upset

bloody hell hinker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What on earth are you doing looking stuff like that up?

Can't believe that that beautiful girl has been so transformed.

Turquoise · 05/01/2006 22:56

God that's grim. Definitely effective though.

I think the current tv campaign where the girl appears to be run over in the restaurant is also extremely shocking and effective.

hunkermunker · 05/01/2006 22:57

It was from this news site - I'm not googling for D&D campaign messages!

Poor girl.

edam · 05/01/2006 23:25

OMG. What an incredible woman.

Caligula · 05/01/2006 23:38

But you know what, that could have happened if the driver wasn't drunk. 1 in 6 road accidents are caused by drunk drivers. That means 5 out of 6 aren't.

JoolsToo · 05/01/2006 23:41

if there were NO drink drivers just think how fewer accidents there would be in a year!

QueenVictoria · 05/01/2006 23:47

Thats awful!

A friend was killed by a drink driver.

The car had pulled over at the side of the road to drop him off and he had got out the car and walked round the back to get his bag at the boot.

A drink driver approached at 70mph (in a 30mph limit), swerved at him for reasons we will never know and hit him. All his friends in the car heard was a swoosh as he was sent flying a 100ft down the road. Almost every bone in his body was broken. He died instantly.

The driver abandaned the vehicle a short way away and tried to get his girlfriend to lie for him that he had been with her all night and hadnt driven. Largely because he already had a conviction for drink driving. So - some people never learn.

He was just 30 and due to get married that Summer.

I've used that argument too, C (actually I thought it was a higher proportion than 1:6) - "that means that n accidents are caused by drivers who are sober, shouldn't we stop them driving, haha" - but if the accidents caused by the drunk drivers would be preventable if the drunk ones hadn't driven then they should be prevented, shouldn't they?

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 06/01/2006 00:12

actually it's 1 in 6 road DEATHS are caused by drunk drivers

Caligula · 06/01/2006 00:12

Oh definitely. But my point is, that people get morally outraged by drunk drivers but not by tailgaters, speeders etc., who are just as dangerous - and there are more of them on the road.

Caligula · 06/01/2006 00:13

You must have a link, QoQ? You're usually good at those!

Janh · 06/01/2006 00:15

Ohhhh yes, iswym. "Don't be an idiot when driving" covers it but there isn't a breath test for that. (And most of us do idiotic things occasionally - I know I do )

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 06/01/2006 00:16

oh there's a few - that one was from here

Some more interesting ones here

QueenVictoria · 06/01/2006 00:18

i think to a certain extent you are already an idiot of you decide to drink and drive, no?

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 06/01/2006 00:18

another

Janh · 06/01/2006 00:20

I do wish that instead of eg "20,000 killed or injured" they would say "500 killed, 19,500 injured".
