we are looking to move this year and thinking of the Ashtead/Leatherhead area but last night also thought we might go and have a look at Dorking.

Does anyone have anyy good/bad points to say about it.
What is it like for shopping, eating out etc etc and of course schools?

I live in Redhill but like visiting Dorking. Schools are good, don't know primaries well but Ashcombe is very well rated state secondary. Nice shops, lots of independants but may be nicer to browse than to buy anything practical. Nice recently refurbished public pool. I've used nice too much!

I lived near there once... it was quite nice. Terrible name though imo!!

Good Croquet Club nearby if you are into hitting balls through hoops

Live near geogteach and go to Dorking reasonably regulary as have friends who live there.
Agree that it is rather - nice!
Pool is great - good creche there too if you use the facilities.
Schools are good - Ashcombe is the one of choice for secondary. The shops are good -although tend to go browsing there rather than specifically to buy something. Although has to be said it does have a waitrose!!
