just heard on bbc news that they're hoping that the person who's died didn't have "bird flu" hopefully it was just pneumonia. apparently, we're "in trouble" if it turns out to be bird flu. please let it not be.

When will they know CK?

Nothing on the bbc website about this and not seen TV news.

Seems like media panic at the moment though - I would just wait and see what it is first. More likely to be pneumonia than bird flu I imagine.

Just saw the news report too. It is very scarey but I try not to read too much into it, remember how SARS was meant to be an epidemic and it fizzled out?

My poor BIL will be doing his nut. He always believes 100% that he has whatever is the current plague. First is was asbestosis, then AIDS, then CJD ... now this.

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 01/01/2006 23:08

They are reporting it as bird flu as he got sick after eating chicken but I am pretty sure it has not yet been reported to cross the food chain?????

14YR old boy apparently. sad news anyway, obviously, but the bloke on the telly -"expert"- was very worried that this could be the real thing- sorry don't mean to scare-monger but,at the end of the day, it's scary!

Just been on breakfast news now. The 14yo boy was not carrying bird flu and the reports that he might have been are unfounded.

No need to worry for a while again.
