No - I haven't tried it but just didn't want to leave your post unanswered

What has got you to this point?

UCM · 31/12/2005 01:20

God this sounds like my sort of thread, am always pissed, well Drunk?

UCM · 31/12/2005 01:21

Probably not helpful, but I am pissed, does that count?

UCM · 31/12/2005 01:22

My drinking has got out of control and I want some help. I am not dealing with my children as I should and I am crying now as I am speaking.

How much do you drink and when?

How does it affect your children?

If you are worried about your drinking then you should take steps to get it under control - well done for having the courage to acknowledge this. My heart goes out to you, I have experienced alcoholism first hand in my family and it is not easy. I am pondering the same thing - I think a lot of people are after the excesses of Christmas - and frankly I am so bored and tired of always getting pissed, and every event I go to everyone is always pissed. We are trying for a baby now so I am thinking that well, at least a pregnancy will keep me off the sauce, isn't that awful?? Why don't you give the AA support line a call, you have nothing to lose.

If AA sounds like your thing, then good luck, but you may also find help through your local drug and alcohol services. They can provide counselling and support that is more person-centred and does not follow the 12-step plan, which is not everybody's cup of tea. AA is not the only way to become sober. Your GP or NHS direct could help if you speak to them.

my dp quit drinking with the help of aa it was very therapy/talking based and was a great support at a rough time He is a real talker so it suited him and he has been sober 14 years now and our life is fantastic
