I purchased a Motorola V3 mobile phone off ebay brand new as a suprise pressie for my DH

He was over the moon with it.

Put his sim in and it said "Unregistered Sim" - I was annoyed as the listing said that it was unlocked.

He took it into town today to get it unlocked and it looks as though the actual phone is barred to all networks due to it being stolen?

He wasnt very clear as was very pissed off - ended up practically throwing the phone at me as he got a parking ticket whilst trying to sort it out.

Anyone know what sim unregistered meanS?

IF it is stolen is tehre anythign I can do about the money>

could just be locked to a network, as my v3 is locked to t-mobile and i cancelled my contract with them after appaling service, thinking i would get an orange payg sim and it was locked so i couldn't.

apparently these market stall mobile traders are very good at this and also if you have any 'dodgy' mobile shops in your town they do them too. we have a couple that have sprung up around town with unlocking services provided.

u can unlock v3s but only by takign them to someone who has the right software and equipment. More places do them now. I've had a good few unlocked with no problems, we were selling them at one time. I actually have one myself too. If it was sold on a network, it would have been locked, they all were.

if it was his upgrade, then if he hasn't paid his bills, then it could have been barred. Also, if he had insurance he could report it stolena dn get antoher handset. Nice trick to play after you've received feedback. Get in touch with him, and tell him you will be returnign the phone for a refund. Send it back by recorded delivery. Then if he doesn't refund you can do a chargeback on paypal.
