Next. Ordered a dvd recorder on 1st december - said 1-2 weeks for delivery. No problem.
Was told it went to the warehouse on 13th Dec for checks and would arrive in 2 days. Yesterday was told there is no date showing now, just 1-2 weeks and out of stock

Good job it was my present to myself not anyone else

handlemecarefully · 21/12/2005 12:48

I think I must have been lucky with the ELC!

RachD · 21/12/2005 13:26

Next - Have now lost all details of order !!!

Spurs shop - promised express delivery - told 'in transit'.

Received three christmas cards yesterday, which had royal mail, red & white tape on it, having been opened - presumably looking for cheques/ money.

In the news yesterday, man who had loads of people working for him, who stole millions from parcels & post.

I think that there is loads & loads of theft going on - not just parcels going missing, but deliberate theft.

Pixiefish · 21/12/2005 13:33

business post- meant to be delivering stuff for dh's business on saturday. Xmas orders for his customers.
They couldn't be arsed to come out of their way to deliver to us and left the stuff in the depot. dh rang to try and sort it and the girl at runcorn call center put him on hold for 20 minutes until the depot closed at 12.30 and then put the phone down on him!!! when he rang back he got an automated message telling him the depot was closed.

Hence he couldn't deliver to HIS customers.

We lived next to the neighbour from hell - noise, diy, fighting on the street loud parties, dog barking, police round, you name it. When he finally got sent to prison it was for mail theft - he had got a temp job at Royal Mail, had stolen literally sackfuls of mail which he hid in the garden shed, and had opened to look for cash etc. The most imbecilic and pathetic crime I have ever heard of.

podkin · 21/12/2005 13:36

My present from dp (digital camera) has been at the 'hatfield terminal' for the best part of a week according to dhl's tracking system (ordered from Currys btw).
Computer bits for dp, Initial city link tried to deliver yesterday while I was out - you have to leave a message on a dodgy answerphone with a new preferred date (today) or go and collect it yourself. There is no confirmation that they receive the message so I am sitting in all day waiting for something which might not be delivered. I have just seen a City Link van drive to the end of our road, turn round and drive back again...so - looks like I will be dring 10 miles to Crawley with 2 babies in tow tommorrow to pick it up - a-holes

NannyL · 21/12/2005 13:41

Amazon have DELIVERED (just) BUt given that i ordered all items in stock on 5th dec it took ALOT of chasing for them to arrive, and wasnt i plaeased when they did (fianlly) some (there est delivery date was up to 13th dec! but they didnt even dispatch until sunday 18th!)

Ill be ordering BEFORE december next year.

Mercy · 21/12/2005 14:57

There is a postbox just across the road from where I live which has a lockable box attached to it. I 'think' the postman puts small parcels, recorded delivery in there etc, though not entirely sure.

Today the top of the box has been pulled off and presumably the contents removed. So no doubt some thieving git has helped themselves to someone's presents, Christmas money, whatever.

Our v nice postman has told us stories of his colleagues being mugged for their mail bags, those cart things being loaded into a car whilst putting mail through letter boxes etc

So yes whilst I agree Royal Mail aren't perfect, neither are some members of the public.

The Little Experience - ordered some presents for my ds and his cousin at end Nov. Nothing happened. Chased 3 times and got no answer. Chased again and again, no answer. Finally got someone on Monday and they said "you should have told us earlier that there was a problem with your order" = implication being that they're too busy to take notice of things like orders. Finally got HALF the order yesterday and it looks tatty. Rang to see where the other stuff was to be told that it was no longer in stock and had I phoned earlier I would have known that (eh? they couldn't have mentioned that on Monday?!)..... oh and refunding my credit card could take a while... USELESS and never to be ordered from again.

thats better, I came on for a rant about that, now I can get back to work/drinking tea.

lunavix · 21/12/2005 15:06

AMKELL.CO.UK

Well this is an order from dh, not from me, but it's for me so I'm indignant

They took his money at the start of the month, promised next day delivery on one item and asap deliver on the second and made him pay extra to ship them seperately as well as next day. He still hasn't seen either items, although they've told him they were dispatched.

There's no phone number on the website, althouhg the one you get from doing a search on the address is just a permanent answer phone, and if you email them they don't reply.

THEIVING B*STARDS

  1. Amazon. Ordered way back when (sometime in mid-November IIRC). They said delivery in 1-2 weeks. Received e-mail last week to say they couldn't deliver 1 item (a Brio Builder system kit which was actually a birthday present for ds1 whose birthday was last week) and I would have to cancel it to get the rest of my order, and re-order it (great! so I have to pay postage grrrrrr). The rest of the order arrived yesterday. ds1 received one of his Christmas presents for his birthday instead and my parents have been out and found something else for him (the Brio was officially a present from them although I ordered it).
  1. My First Years. They had the same Brio kit on their site, labelled `available now'. Ordered it last Tuesday, was informed delivery would take 2 days. Received e-mail yesterday saying they were unable to supply so my order had been cancelled.

All the other sites I looked at were at least aware that this kit was out of stock! (I guess there's a problem with it, or it's not made any more, because I can't get it anywhere. It looked really good and right up ds1's street ).

Janh · 21/12/2005 15:12

amazon have been a bit startling here (in a good way). Placed order 14/12, all but one in stock but even with paying 1st class postage it said nothing would be delivered until after Christmas - then on 16/12 received email stating guaranteed delivery before Christmas up to 18/12 for free standard deliv and up to 20/12 for 1st class.

Checked "your account", still showing after-Christmas delivery, so emailed back asking how come, and next news got grovelly email saying terribly sorry, our mistake, we will send it all free of postage instantly. And so they did - all here by Mon 19th (second parcel delivered about 8pm )

play.com also excellent, also boots.com. Haven't used anybody else this year.

katierocket · 21/12/2005 15:12

ELC

renaldo · 21/12/2005 17:11

parcel force are RUBBISH claimed they tried to deliver to us 10 times but we were'nt in ( but did'nt leave a card) so they just kept the parcel at their depot for 3 weeks!

nikkie · 21/12/2005 17:57

Royal Mail when I get a card
I usually phone the depot and ask for re-delivery to my local post office (I pay 50p ) and it comes the next day-NOW I call a call centre , they re arrange delivery, I comes to my house 3 days later I miss it again and restart the process all over again

Problems with Amazon (also finding them more expensive now though?)

SilentBite · 21/12/2005 18:04

home shopping direct sent me a parcel with a packing slip saying it was my sons toy but was in fact a gents fleece! What good is that?? I informed them and returned the fleece but still no toy! (This was ordered about 6 weeks ago!)

snowydelight · 21/12/2005 18:17

Dodopad crap until I e-mailed them and told them they were in breach of the distance selling regulations - got a phone call within 5 minutes of my e-mail. I hate it when companies only respond when you clearly know your consumer rights!

kleist · 21/12/2005 18:49

La Redoute. For a lovely flowery anorak dd had her heart set on wearing on Christmas day.

Milgestoe · 21/12/2005 18:57

sleepover company. Ordered personalised plates for the dt's to leave mince pies out for Father Christmas. Ordered and paid in full on 21st Nov. Phoned them on monday - estimated day of delivery? 27th December. . Useless, and they refused a refund.
