Do you reconise this baby???

I am on a SN board and someone has posted this message,

This is kind of off topic, but also a request for help.

I'm not sure if anyone here still frequents forums for premature babies/children, but I know that some of the members here do have children who started life as prems, and you never know what you might find wandering the net.......

But I just wanted to post this incase anyone does and has this turn up on the board they belong too

anyone know him

If you can't get through on the above link then try this: I posted the pictures on Michael's website in the hopes that someone might recognise the other baby.

and again here

The top baby is a 25 weeker by the name of Jacob, his mum is a friend of mine and has been absoutly devastated to learn that her child's identity has been stolen, by someone by the name of maureen, who claims that these babies are 23 week twins....

We don't know who the other baby belongs to but are assuming that this child's identity has been stolen too.

If this person turns up on your board, please let the admin know that these children's identities are stolen and that they have a fraud on their board. My friend would also be pleased with any details you felt able to share in order to try to get Yahoo to remove this website.

I'm sorry to bring bad news, and am hoping that someone could help, because as you can imagine Shelley is desperate to get this website removed.

How creepy is that.
What lovely babies though, reminds me of my dear nephew who was born at 24 weeks.

sparklymieow · 21/12/2005 00:06

very creepy...

I wonder if the second pic is American - that stripey blanket looks like what they call a receiving blanket, you don't get those in NHS hospitals, do you?

What a perverse thing to do.

Janh · 21/12/2005 00:10

Also the white cloth under the baby's head looks like an American cloth diaper - not towelling, thin textured cotton, called birdseye - they use them the way we use muslins.

sparklymieow · 21/12/2005 00:12

The ventilators are different too, and also the monitoring clips.

I've forwarded this to a couple of mostly-US boards I post on in case anyone there recognises the second baby.

Thanks

the perils of digital photos and the internet eh. I can imagine that your friend must be very unhappy about this sparklym. I certainly would be.

cathyspamtaslittlehelper · 21/12/2005 08:14

Someone obviously has a very serious problem! I feel so sorry for yor friend sparklymieow, how unnerving!

ShortAndStripySolsticer · 21/12/2005 08:55

How awful! I would have been extremely upset if someone had done this to me and my DD's. It must be the work of a very sick mind! At least the other site seems to have been closed down now?

Twiglett · 21/12/2005 08:56

but what would someone get out of doing that? am completely confused by the concept

Attention, it's a fantasy isn't it? I find this quite creepy as I said but can think of much stranger things. Some people are very odd indeed.

sparklymieow · 21/12/2005 10:53

This isn't my friend that it happened to, its a friend of a friend. She posted the message on a SN post I am on, which I copied and pasted here

Would say this is very likely to be american as the date is 12-3-05 (unlikely to be from back in march more likely to be the american way of doing the date ie the 3rd of december).

sparklymieow · 21/12/2005 11:05

This is Shelley's site if you scoll down you will see the pic that this person has stolen.

very disturbing

Janh · 21/12/2005 12:28

I wonder now, from NQC's comment about the date, if maybe the second baby belongs to the person who has posted both pics - if she could have been expecting twins and lost one and is now pretending she has 2? (She is obviously not in a normal mental state to do this at all.)

cupcakesbakingonanopenfire · 21/12/2005 12:43

This is one of the many reasons why I won't put photos of my children on the internet.
Anyone can take these pictures - she's lucky she came across this one site, there could be loads more taken and used elsewhere.

ShortAndStripySolsticer · 21/12/2005 13:32

That's the scary thing, most blogs or photo hosting sites aren't copyrighted. No-one's breaching anything by re-using photo's, apart from common decency, that is!

They are -- photos are automatically copyrighted without your having to do anything. But in practical terms there's very little you can do as comeback to anyone who does breach your copyright.

Leah, that's interesting. I'm sure I've read that I would lose copyright of my photo's if I posted them on various sites/blogs? Maybe copyright transfers to the site owners in some instances then, rather than dissapearing altogether! Sorry, my mistake

Regardless, it's a horrible thing to do!
