We "might" be going to Zimbabwe........

in May (taking DS1 out of school for 2 weeks) to attend 2 weddings!

The first (dates already booked) is DH's BIL's sister - she's definitely getting married in May.

Then DH's younger brother has just announced he's hoping to marry his girlfriend - he's "hoping" to marry her later in the year - but as we've stumped up the money for the "dowry" for his wife to be (20 million Zimbabwean dollars........about £120 LOL) and because DH is the oldest brother we will get a say in when it happens meaning we can get him to get married in May so we only have to make one trip out (we couldn't afford 2 trips - it's going to cost up £1500+ just for airfares as it is !.

Thank goodness finances are now looking a lot more secure otherwise we could't even contemplate it.

Last 4/5 months we've been scrimping to survive - next 4/5 months we'll be scrimping and saving LOL.

ooooh how exciting! bet you can't wait?

I'm not sure how I'm feeling - it's been nearly 6yrs since we were last there. I avoid as many stories on the news about it as possible - as the pictures and the stats (inflation at 600%!!) make me really sad.

On the otherhand it'll be great to go and catch up with people we haven't seen for such a long time - and for my FIL to see the boys for the first time.

Is your house safe now QoQ?

I hope 2006 brings some easier times financially for you.

Just hoping if both weddings do go ahead - and we do get out for them - that my brother doesn't decide to get married next year too!

He's got a girlfriend (first since he was a teenager - and he's 30 now ) and things sound like they're going very well - and there has been talk of wedding bells in the distant future ('bout bl**dy time - I want to be an Aunty in my own right LOL).

and what I didn't mention in that last thread - is that the mortgage repayments thing starts in January - so we've got 'money' to spend for Christmas (and for my BIL's dowry )
