I'm totally shocked that Betty Tucker has died.

It comes so soon after Nigel's Mother.

Well I know, but I'm surprised they have followed up with Betty so soon.

Read in the paper at the weekend that the actor who plays Betty is going to live in New Zealand and happy to be killed off!

Of course, didn't think of that.

Actually Kate Oates (producer) is a distant cousin of mine. Maybe I should ask her.

But more to the point, however will Mike manage without Betty.

And, as every cloud has a silver lining, will this open up a job opportunity for Emma? Or will the shop close?

How callous of her, what about Mike, eh?

I was a bit stunned to hear about this yesterday and was thinking of asking Mners how she died. No surprise then to see there is already a thread started on this subject! So what is the story then? I gather she was a bit ill but released from hospital or something and then died when Mike was out buying some poinsettias?

Betty had a heart attack. Was admitted to hospital, but released home after 2 days, died having an afternoon nap!!

She had a heart attack and was in hospital a short while, then whilst at home resting in bed, had another and Mike found her dead. Last Friday's episode was very moving...do the 'listen again' thing on Radio 4 website.

Ooh no wonder Mike is up in arms about it (or will be when he gets over the initial grieving) - that is very dodgy!

BTW, is something developing between Tom and Brenda?

I think Brenda hopes so!
