Dh has just called and tld me that my brother (who works with Dh} has been missing since Saturday night and he has been looking for him all day. Apparently he was fighting and got lifted by police but was later released. am really worried as he has been really depressed recently.

OMG

Have you called all his friends?

harpsiheraldangelssing · 19/12/2005 13:27

oh god how worrying
can you get the police interested? if you tell them he was depressed?

spruceylucy5 · 19/12/2005 13:27

Oh how worrying, have you started phoning round? Visiting pubs he visits etc?

Have just had a phone call from DH - he has been found at an old school friends house, remembers nothing and has been sleeping since yesterday. Am so relieved but could shake him sooo hard! Thanks. [weak smile]

good news!

feel a bit stupid for posting now when he was found so quickly but panicked because of his depression. It is so sad because he is only 20, really good looking, intelligent and lovely but since my mum dying and him splitting up with his girlfriend he has been so troubled. I don't know how to help. He is best frinds with my DH and talks to him a lot but i feel useless.

awww, i am glad he is ok! it's good he can talk to your dh...
does he have any other help? is he seeing a counsellor or psychiatrist at all? is he on any medication?

cathyspamtaslittlehelper · 19/12/2005 21:06

he wouldn't see anyone about it and isn't on any medication - he is also very stubborn and in denial!

oh that's a shame what is it with men and denying they could do with a bit of help now and then????
i guess all you can do is be there for him.. and let him know you're always there if he needs to escape, or someone to talk to

harpsiheraldangelssing · 19/12/2005 21:09

no don't feel stupid for posting.
when I read it I was thinking of another person I knew of a few years ago who went missing and trying to get the police involved. you weren't overreacting, you just were concerned with good reason.
I hope you can persuade him to get some help.
HC xx

you are so right about men! I think they see it as a sign of weakness! I am glad DH is so great with him though and I hope he knows that I will always be here for him - I will remind him!

do let him know that you care about him. and that there is nothing wrong with talking to someone about it!
it's difficult to see when you're depressed though, and hard to believe that anyone wants to help you

DanceOfThePeachyPlumFairy · 19/12/2005 21:22

Don't feel bad about posting. I remeber when dh went missing (he had very severe depression) and I panicked and called the police... it was the fact that I had done that, that made him realise how bad things were (the Police were driving up and down the M-Way trying to track him down, he had said he would end it)

It's scary,....
