Horrid little boy!

Just been to a children's Xmas party for 0-12 year olds. When 'Santa' arrived on his sleigh, my three year old daughter'e eyes lit up and she was so excited, bless! We stood next to a horrid eight year old boy who told her Santa wasn't real,it was a man in a costume. Wanted to wring his neck, but told him not to tell her that as she is only 3 - i don't think it sunk in with her, but I'm so mad!!

Try "Oh yes, that Santa isn't real - the real one is making his list and seeing if everyone is being good".

I'd mentioned to ds1 that Santa might be dropping into his Christmas party at school, but was told that it was just someone dressing up. He doesn't seem to be perturbed by this.

oh no! Horrid little boy - wasn't his mother around to slap him one!?! At least she didn't absorb what he said and if she had, you could have told her he was being silly or something

These santas who turn up at parties/grottos/whatever are the tricky ones. What you need to do is say that he simply can't be everywhere at once as he is so busy, so he has to have helpers to stand in for him.

Ahhhh! I don't think he was being horrid. He was just showing he's a big boy now and doesn't believe. He's too young to think through what he's doing. I would just have said 'Shhhh!' and winked at him and pointed to the little one.

You're quite right Mincepie.. but I am in a stressed out mood and felt like calling him a nasty little sh*te in a nice safe environment where neither he nor his mother would know about it! (And I doubt I would have been that charitable in my chastising of him actually..)
