I sit opposite her and exercise great restraint in not grabbing her by her lank stringy hair, hauling her across the desk and smashing her ugly, smug little face into my computer. In fact, the only good she has done is to unite the team in their hatred of her. She plays computer games all day, asks me to cover meetings for her as she is "a bit busy" (with Minesweeper), picks up interesting high profile things from other people, drops them when they are no longer of interest.
I wanted to apply for another job, which would mean me leaving this one 4 months early. She asked me when the deadline was, and I said Midday today, but I needed to know by 5.00 on Tuesday night as I wasn't in this morning (DD's nativity play). She said "I haven't agreed that you can have tomorrow morning as leave yet" and "We cannot carry a gap of 4 months. I will need to discuss with head honcho." I had already spoken to HH, who had said yes, go, no prob, we will support you and give you a good reference. I told her this and her cat's bum mouth puckered even more. She went to see him at 2.00 yesterday and didn't tell me that she agreed to me leaving early until 3.00 today, saying sweetly "I forgot to tell you yesterday, and I suppose you have missed the deadline now and it's too late for you to apply." (I had already sent my application off - I wasn't fool enough to wait for her and didn't want to give her the satisfaction of asking yesterday afternoon.)
The thing that really pees me off is that she has applied for another job which would mean leaving her current one 18 months early, and at the same time as me, so there would be no continuity in the office. But this seems to be irrelevant. I'e also applied for the same job - please God, if I don't get it, don't let her get it either...
