I only ask because last year I did and it died really quickly. This year I'm not sure what to do. The garden centre said to water it in initially but dh says we should always keep it topped up. We've had it a week and already at the top its going a bit crispy. so ....

to water or not to water?

of course you ahve to water it! Will still loose needles though
did you chop off a few inches before you put it in the stand?

yes. we do it. we got a stand with a hollow for water.

yes the man at the garden centre chopped off a bit at the end. why do you think its going crispy then? it is full of water, I've been doing it every day for a week. how long does yours last before it goes a bit dry looking?
