Just been watching a recorded prog from last night (Music and Faith with Rick Wakeman if you must know) but it stopped before the end

Thought I'd give them a ring - heyho recorded voices and multi options none of which fulfilled my 'query' then I remembered from yesterday's Mail how to get through to a person - well it got me half way there - I got another recorded voice saying "we are currently experiencing a high volume of callers at the present time" your called should be answered in twen-tee-six min-its - crap!

Mistletoo how did you get to that stage?

Dh and I have been trying to do that for ages as reception keeps failing. We get to it telling us to turn everything off and remove the card for 90 secs and then it ends the call.

foxinsocks · 12/12/2005 15:29

does it show on your planner that is has fully recorded? (sometimes it says part recorded if it's not finished or something like that)?

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 17:10

no - says recorded

still haven't got through - though quite what they can do I don't know!

have you unplugged (i.e. take plug out of wall completely) and leave it out for a bit then replug in and try again?

or have you tried to specify the minutes when you are earlier in the programme e.g. if it stops at 40minutes have you tried to type in 42mins on the sky+ planner menu bit (when you select the item, you can type in from what minutes you watch from)?

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 17:15

I always either bring up the blue banner and press 'R' or go to tv guide, highlight the programme and press 'R'.

This isn't the first time but I can't say it happens often but boy is it annoying.

After you have recorded and you want to watch, you go to TV guide and then press 0 to go to the Sky + planner (this is where it stores all your programmes and you can see what you've recorded).

If you select the programme you've recorded it should say (in the blue) how many minutes it is (let's say 63 minutes).

On a yellow bar near the bottom on the right it will say LAST VIEWED and it should say the minutes you stopped at and if you type in say 42 then press select (it will probably change the words now to VIEWER DEFINTED), it should start your programme at 42 minutes.

Sky+ boxes are a bit temperamental - -we had our fisrt one replaced after 5 months. Our 2nd one often has to be rebooted...it's only a matter of time before we are on box 3 I fear

foxinsocks · 12/12/2005 17:24

VIEWER DEFINED (that should say)

I would recommend you do one of these REBUILD PLANNER tasks but I told SueW to do one earlier and I thought I'd killed her Sky Box. I'll paste what I wrote earlier and let you decide if you want to do one. Theoretically, it tidies up your hard drive so that the % space is all tidied up and your planner should start working better.

To rebuild planner -

SERVICES - 4 - 0 - 1 - SELECT

although it appears when you are pressing 0 and 1 that you are going nowhere, once you press select, you are in the hidden installers menu. Then select the option for planner rebuild. It should reboot your box.

If that doesn't work, there is a full reset option on that hidden installers menu but that will get rid of what you have recorded (I think) whereas the planner rebuild shouldn't.

IOTAnnenbaum · 12/12/2005 17:26

thanks for the tip Foxy... will get dh n it

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 17:30

it says it recorded 33 mins and the prog was listed as 30 mins.

I've used user defined before but in this case it just stopped recording before the end of the prog. I did start the recording after it had started but that shouldn't make any difference.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/12/2005 17:41

what I was wondering jools, was whether it had recorded the whole program but just stopped playing it back to you (if you see what I mean) so that's why I was wondering if you typed in say 30 mins whether you got the end of the program or just the last minutes it recorded (i.e. not the end!).

Is your planner very full or have you got loads of space on it?

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 17:45

I'm going to check that out now fox - thanks!

I'll be back

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/12/2005 17:46

that's ok iota. Some sky + boxes are more tempermental that others - if you ever get a chance to get a new one, always go for the Pace ones as these tend to be more reliable (so I'm told!).

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 17:49

No deffo stopped at 33 mins 'end of recorded programme, press back up etc'

also tried your Services 4-0-1 (although there is no zero pressed it anyway) nothing happended

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 12/12/2005 17:50

did you press select after the 1?

yes, there is no 0 on the services menu. It's a hidden thing so you have to press services, press 4, then press 0 followed by pressing 1 followed by select and a new menu should come up (installers menu).

Mistletoo · 12/12/2005 18:07

ah! gotcha! will have a look

OP posts:
jamese · 13/12/2005 09:41

how long have you set it up to record after each programme. In case you don't know (sorry if you do) but you can choise the time to record both before and after the programme. (I think mine is set to 20 mins or so after the progamme ends as I have been caught out before. For some reason it didn't tape Home and Away yesterday even though it has been taping it for about 1 year! hubby thought it was because it realise how crap home and away is!.
hope this helps - but admit I get lots of problems- sometimes just freezes and you have to turn it of only to find it has lost the progame it was taping.
Still couldn't live without it though (well obviously could but don't want to)
