Using the internet when I should be hard at work...

Help! My internet addiction, and particularly the urge to look at Mumsnet, is getting greater the more work I have to do! Keep breaking off from my studying to have a quick peak and the next thing I know an hour or so has completely disappeared!

Obsessed with internet - openly neglect child now at home, as well!!!

Found site called siegesurfer.com which apparently doesn't allow your employer to track your internet movements. Oh, the joy in being subversive.

For Mumsnetters everywhere!

Mummy's Online - Author unknown.

I can hear them calling,
So I know they are fine.
'Where's Mum?' they are saying.
Don't they know I'm Online??!!!

'We're hungry!' I hear
I tell them 'Please, hush!
Mum is Online now.
What is the rush!!?

They had a bite yesterday
When the phone lines were out,
These kids drive you crazy...
Oh, look, there's a pout!

I dispense bowls of cereal
As I download a file...
No time wasted here...
I'm a true computerphile!

I check out the boards
And respond to a few.
'We're so bored!! moan the children,
'What can we do?'!!

I tell them to stop,
Please do not whine.
Geeze...can't they see their mother
Is busy Online??!!

The grumbling continues
As they wander about
'Mum's ALWAYS on the computer!!'
Together they shout!

Unawares to me,
They yank the phone from the jack,
Saying 'Daddy is right...
This is the way to get Mummy back!'

I only have internet access at work, so I'm happily spending my lunch break, coffee breaks etc; mumsnetting!

Tigermoth · 29/10/2001 14:57

Chairmum, LOL!

Jodee · 29/10/2001 19:00

Ooh Chairmum, I'm starting to feel a bit guilty for switching on the TV babysitter ...

Chairmum · 29/10/2001 19:37

LOL, Jodee! Don't worry, you're not alone; the poem was obviously written by someone else feeling guilty!!

I'd better go now and do my DD's homework with her...or maybe take one more look at Mumsnet, first!
