Childrens book club subscription

Can anyone help me please? I'm a godmother to a baby of 7 months. I'd like to invest in his future and want to subscribe to a book club (pay monthly etc) and then my friend can choose books for him. I haven't been able to find such a bookclub only those that decide which books should be sent and do not allow the parents to choose. Does anyone know of any? Thanks so much. I appreciate your help.

Hmm I don't know if what you are looking for exists in that form, most book clubs seem to involve minimum purchases or they send you the editors choice, the prices aren't great after the initial offers and they charge postage too.

What about monthly amazon gift certificates, you can schedule up to a year ahead, so I suppose you could schedule one every month to be sent to your friend.
