Fluffy faux fur needs fluffing up - please help

Nursery thought they'd be really helpful and wash DD's coat after it got wet.

Well i dont know what theyve done but the fluffy faux fur looks like the remnants of a bathroom mat and not the wispy fluffy thing it once was. (The fibres are no longer separated they are all clagged together).

I havent tried to do anything with it yet - i am hoping washing it again and drying NOT in a tumble drier like they did might fix it.

Does anyone have any suggestions though?

Please help, the coat is ruined otherwise.

TIA.

could you blow it dry with a brush and a hair dryer?

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 20:38

Thought about that but didnt want to make it worse!

I will be there with you in spirit on Monday

Try brushing it, if no joy, then a cool wash and dry on an airier, then same treatment. Did they boil wash it??

GingerBearingGifts · 09/12/2005 20:44

Rinse it with conditioner - L'Oreal, cos you're worth it!!

GingerBearingGifts · 09/12/2005 20:44

airier??? wtf is one of those?

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 21:32

No idea what they did with it tbh! They just said it got a bit wet so they dried it. Im sure theres more to it than that though!

QV: Does the coat look different from when you normally wash / tumble dry it ?

I only ask because we've got a fake fur throw, and when washed, all the bits go clump instead of furry, but after we lounge around lazilly on it for a few days, it goes back to being super soft and fibrous and fluffy IYSWIM...

I reckon maybe just using it for a wee while, or rubbing vigorously might sort out this wardrobe disaster !

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 21:41

Well it wasnt like it when i first washed it. I briefly brushed it but it made no difference.

I think it's the tumble drying that does it. When our throw came out it looked buggered. Now it looks, erm, like fur again, LOL.

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 22:15

So if i wash it and i dont tumble dry it it will turn out better?
