Um... you go to the post office and say "I'd like to send this to Australia please" you fill a customs slip in to stick to the parcel.

hi, we send pressies all the time to dps family in oz
they will give you a sticker at the po and you can write the contents and value of the contents - should be fine
i think today is the last guaranteed day for delivery to oz by xmas though.......

(and say it's a gift on the customs slip)

You could ask Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion to take it?

Otherwise, I don't know - sorry

Yes, customs in Australia may unwrap it, but they usually try to put it back together again fairly well, and they put a sticker on the outside to say they have done this.

The 124th of Jan? In the Emerald city maybe the years are longer...?

nikcola · 09/12/2005 11:19

customs only tend to open things they can't identify by x-ray. We had a card enclosed with some gifts - the opened the envelope as they obviously could not work out what the hart onthe card was so it was opened with a sticker telling us that customs had opened it but that nothing had been removed.

As others have said - just go to the post office with the parcel and tell them you want to send it airmail to Australia - sea mail would not get it there in time..... and they will give you a green little sticky form to fill in that gets attached to the parcel listing what is in the parcel and whether it is a gift or not and its worth - don't worry too much about the weight - don't think I have ever filled that in for any parcels I have sent either from the UK or Aus. Make sure you get an airmail sticker to put on it too - or a couple.
