title says it all really, DS aged 14 months has somehow hauled a full (sealed) tin of paint from the utility room into the hall and now my carpet is a fetching shade of green. God knows how he even opened it - I've scraped most of it off with a fish slice (!!) and stuck him in the living room in disgrace - what can I do now, is it ruined ???

buy a rug

PantomimEDAMe · 08/12/2005 15:39

Ouch. Is it emulsion or oil-based? If water-based, I'd keep blotting it with a little bit of water and maybe a tiny bit of washing-up liquid. No idea whether that's a good thing, mind, just what I'd try.

Very advanced fine motor skills though, you should be proud!

Have tried cleaning it but getting nowhere - it's green matt emulsion so I think the rug is probably the best suggestion - little horror is laughing his head off at me trying to clean it he thinks its all a game. Ah well he'll be getting a lovely rug for Christmas then !!

The sad thing is that it will be like trying to clean a paint roller but bigger and you know how long it takes to get paint out of them.
Insurance claim?
paint it all green?
Paint Ds green?

Sorry I know I wouldnt find this funny if it was my carpet
your only hope is to clean with a hot water extraction machine before it dries

nailpolish · 08/12/2005 16:14

oh yes im sure you could claim on insurance and get a lovely new carpet

Littlemermaid · 08/12/2005 17:14

no go on the insurance, just checked but painting DS green is looking a real possibility !

CARoLsingersKickingatmydoor · 08/12/2005 17:20

seriously do you or anyone you know have a vax or similar

Littlemermaid · 08/12/2005 17:38

We're borrowing a steam cleaner tomorrow but I don't hold out much hope. Shame about the insurance incompetent DH to blame - could have done with a new carpet it's a new house and the living room, hall and stairs had cream carpets when we moved in. Not very compatible with my very messy soon to be painted green DS, won't he look festive !

Keep the carpet wet and cover it up with an old towel or dust sheet.
Once emulsion dries it's a bu66er to get off
Careful with steam, wool carpets wont like it one bit
