So said DS today (an only child for medical reasons)
He said when you have my brother or sister I will help you mind them, I replied that maybe I loved him sooooooooo much that I did not want to share him, to which he replied,But Mummy ..........I want to be shared.......You can't not share me, that is just selfish.

Posting this at this hour as I just need to dump, feel free to post, but don't feel obliged.

Oh, sweetheart - that's not easy

I think we drum into them that sharing is a good thing, but it doesn't make it any easier to hear repeated back in this context

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/12/2005 23:52

Yes
I have obviously done a good joob on the sharing thing but hey ho, he needs a Mummy more than I/he needs a baby.

I don't know how old he is, but what a lovely argument he chosed!. Anyways, I understand how are you feeling, we have looked into several options and slowly are accepting the fact that DS is going to be an only child. Have you thought about adding a "ready made" member to your family?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/12/2005 23:57

Chandra

He is 4 and DH is 50 next year, we have looked at lots of options but none which would have worked for us.

I am in the main totally OK with their only being the three of us(give me a glass of wine and I might tell you differently ) I have squared it all off in my head, but did not expect the difficult stuff from him so soon.

It will be fine. I expect this is like another phase that, hopefully, will not last long.

Chandra · 06/12/2005 00:10

... Besides... thye don't know what they are asking for, I have a niece who bored my sister crazy about a little brother and then was terribly disapointed when the baby arrived because he was "too young" to play with her!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 06/12/2005 00:16

Thanks Chandra, I will remind him how little babies just poo and sleep that should do it.

sleep? what are you talking about???

harpsiheraldangelssing · 06/12/2005 07:53

oh LGJ I have nothing wise to say
you could list all the people you share him with
dd1 often asks me at bedtime - who loves me again? or who are my friends? and we have to go through a long list
it's rather sweet
you could do that
