'Ping'- what is the past tense?

Ok, daft argument to be having but I am. 'Pung' deosn't sound right and 'pinged' does to the extent that the past tense of 'sing' isn't 'singed'....

Any ideas?

well seeing as ping is onamatopeaia (sp) I think you just have to go with what seems right. And I think it's pinged.

Lol at ponged, Cod So if i ping a smelly elastic band can i say that I pinged a band that ponged? Or pung a band that pang?
