Hiya , i was just looking for some advice. my ds was very sick last night and his NEW cotbed mattress got soaked in the stuff, thankfully the poor little mite's ok and no signs of anything sinister today (last time he did something like this it was really nasty and lasted 2 weeks ) anyway, back to the point, i've Anti baxed his mattress 3 times with the spray thingy, i mean really doused it, but it absolutely honks. I'm not only worried about the smell, i'm scared about germs/bugs lurking. what do you reckon, do i need to throw it out or has anyone got any suggestions?? thanks very, billiejo.x

There was a thread recently which recommended white vinegar - sloosh the vinegar on, blot it off then put the mattress somewhere warm to dry out.

Vinegar was my receommendation. You need to make a solution of vinegar and water - not sure how much vinegar but obviously more water than vinegar.

The vinegar should neutralise the smell. It sounds unlikely, but it has worked for me. (also works for urine smells.)

also cat litter. If you get it wet (with water first) it absorbs wet ness and smells.

or a steam cleaner?

How Clean is your House's Kim and Aggie used normal bathroom soap to scrub a guy's mattress once (dread to think what his stains and odours were !). They scrubbed it with the soap and a nailbrush, rinsed it and then used a towel to blot as much water out as possible, jumping up and down on it in the process, before leaving it to dry out naturally. Don't think they'll be any lingering germs.
