I know this should be in Pets but indulge me for once.

What would you name a little GSD puppy (black and tan)?

Is Kaiser to chavvy/neddish?

kaiser is horrid IMO I'd go for an old boys German name

Otto
Heinz
Gilbert (bertie)
Otis
Ritter
Gustav (Gus)
and my fave...walter I wanted to call out pup this.

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 04/12/2005 19:20

um, our pup I meant.

TwoIfBySanta · 05/12/2005 21:42

Well I wanted to name him Charlie but DH has a workmate called that who is, in his words a d*!!! Shame as he would suit it really.

Kaiser was what DH wanted to name him but I said it was a bit of a ned name and vetoed it for that!

Nemo is the name of our fish.

So what have we called him? Thanks to dst (4 y.o. in 24 days!) and their love of Madagascar (the film not the island although I am sure it is lovely) the name of our pup is...Alex! I am sure it will grow on me but they seem pleased with it and he is a sweet little chap. Alexander means "defender of men" which seems apt for a German shepherd although that is not his purpose!

Max, I know tons of GSDs with that name.
I know this because thats what I called my DS and now every dog seems to be called MAx and fair few teddy bears too

Redtartanlass · 05/12/2005 22:08

I think TAXI is a great name for a dog.

Can you imagine calling it in a park or a beach or something. People would think you were mad!!!

Oi MeggyMooOnHigh - quit taking my DS's name in vain (although its always bound to crop up - usually in conversations involving Dobermans)

Call him what you like - my dog's (Ozzy) best friends are called Linda and Robert (and yes, they are dogs)

polly28 · 06/12/2005 00:06

my dog is called HAPPY

chipmonksRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 06/12/2005 01:07

Dublindee, Oisin is a human name, not a dog name!
(in my book anyway!)

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 06/12/2005 19:06

Hey Serah, what's he called, I want to add here that I love most of the names on my list

PranSerahndDancer · 06/12/2005 19:27

Otto

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 06/12/2005 19:54

PranSerahndDancer · 06/12/2005 21:57

Tell him he's a spoilsport

PotPourri · 06/12/2005 22:02

What about Oscar? More popular as a child name though, but I think it's a sweet name.

laughinglil · 06/12/2005 22:14

haha my sister just named her new kitten Hendrix. I think its cute though

Scatterbrain · 06/12/2005 22:17

I've always thought "Dignity" or "Decorum" were cool names for dogs - coz then I'd get to exercise them !! Ho Ho !

MerryWays · 06/12/2005 22:20

We have Simba, but used to have Basil - suited the GSD great. I also like Alf & Arnie for dogs.
