OVR button down on my computer, how do I turn it off please?

The overtype button is on making typing a real pain at the moment. How do I take it off please as clicking on it doesn't take it off.

press insert

Have pressed insert then you get a drop down box of about 12 options. Then what please?

At the bottom of the screen are the characters OVR (in Word) - double click and it should turn off.
