How do you explain to 2 under 4's that they can only have one choccy per day from THEIR advent calendar?

take it away very quickly and explain that mummy is only having one too.......(you did buy yourself one didn't you?)

starlover · 01/12/2005 13:52

you put them where they can't reach
in them orning you let them open the right one... then it goes back out of reach

or you buy one without chocs.

how old are they? 4 is surely old enough to understand that?

Just have one in at a time, keep the rest in a drawer, and tell 'em the chocolate appears by Christmas magic every morning.

My kids are just greedy little gits! afraid the choc love comes from me. They don't get much and when they can see these 2 calendars on a very high shelf that they can't reach I think it's just too much for them. Like putting a box of truffles where I can't reach them . DS has a last grasped the general idea I think but as DS2 is just 15 months ish he's a wee bit too young and keeps standing there pointing at it. Think will have to hide them till morning.

Mine keeps telling me 'I`m hungry, 1 more Mr Simpson make it better'. We have a Homer calander.

WishYouACrappyChristmas · 01/12/2005 13:59

bless'em. They keep trying don't they?

Just tell them and make sure they can't reach the others. Have done this every year with DS who is now 4. I haven't actually let mine have their calendars yet, it will be tonight. Don't like choccie ones anyway but MIL insists.

Actually I thought you had the really serious problem of 2 under 4s and only 1 calendar so they would have to take it in turns.

WishYouACrappyChristmas · 01/12/2005 14:38

Hell No! That would've been madness!
