Does anyone know how you start claiming family allowance? A friend whose children were born and registered in Australia (even though they're all British) is now back in the UK and can't work out how to start claiming. She's tried the Dss and the post office and had no luck. I seem to remember that mine started after I'd registered the birth - but it'a all a bit hazy. Any advice welcome

You usually get a claim form in the Bounty pack you're given after birth. But otherwise, she should get in touch with the Inland Revenue, they deal with Child Benefit.
