I just put my name down online so that if I die everyone'll know that I want to let people have my organs if they're useful..

then I suddenly thought of the children..

how do you feel about putting your kids on it?

I don't know if anyone will take my children!

NomDePlume · 29/11/2005 13:42

All 5 of us are on it. I just think of it as if it were my child that needed the donor organ.

suzywong · 29/11/2005 13:43

that's a good idea, I will put my kids on the one over here in Oz. Post worst case scenario you would want to think someone else's child could benefit from the greatest tragedy and that part of your child would go on living

They won't touch any part of me though, not even blood - won't touch anyone who has lived in the UK for more than 12 months

misdee · 29/11/2005 13:44

until recent;y i thought not sure. now i am sure if something did happen then i8 would allow my childrens organs to be donated. whar changed my mind was reading about baby holly who needed a heart transplant. she is the same age as my dd3. she had her transplant a few months back, and as far as i know, is doing well.

Suzy they really won't touch you?! Do they think we're dirty or something! Lol!

I put all our names down (except DH's as his was already on there)

Suzy, hasn't your DS1 lived in the UK for more than 12 months ? Will they take him but not you ?

chjlly · 29/11/2005 13:59

I am on the register and have been for a while I also keep on at dh that that is what I want - I hadn't thought about the children as I presumed that I would be asked if something happened to them I didn't think about what if I wasnt here

suzywong · 29/11/2005 14:30

oh very good point NDP

fastasleep, they think we poms have CJD variant

PottyinaPearTree · 29/11/2005 14:33

My two older ones are on it - dd is more likely to need an organ than donate one, so isn't.

That said if anything did happen and she could help someone else than we would do it.

Any one read "Never Let Me Go" by K. Ishiguro?

all about a generation of clones bred specifically for organ donation, vey sad but moving
