Help - ebay problem, what do I do?

I have just sold a Laura Ashley cardigan for a friend on Ebay. The label stated XL which according to the Laura Ashley website is 16/18 and therefore this is what I stated on my listin.

I have now had an email from the purchaser to say that it does not fit his wife (size 16) and he estimates it is a womens' size 24 or 26! The cardigan is a baggy style.

What do you think I should do? Should I offer a refund?

direct him to Laura Ashley website and sizings if XL truly is 16/18 I don't see that you've done anything wrong - that's the danger of buying clothes without trying them on first.

No, I wouldn't offer a refund.

No not for a sizing error, buyer beware, he should have asked for exact measurements if he was unsure about the size.

It is his mistake. If you want to be nice, offer a refund minus costs. If you cancel the transaction, then you get your fees back, and refund minus postage charges. I would usually do that to avoid getting negative feedback.

if the label and website prove that you were correct then you dont need to offer a refund, but some sellers offer refund of purchase price excluding postage and ebay fees.

If I don't offer a refund do you think I will get negative feedback? I've got 100% positive so far and don't really want to spoil this.

its very possible, that is why most sellers dont leave feedback until the buyer has done. you do get chance to comment tho so if he says the size was wrong, you can come back and say you listed size as stated on label and website and cant be expected to refund cos he didnt like the style. one neg doesnt normally put me off someone anyway
