It's that time of year again.Christmas is coming and my neighbours start doing their online christmas shopping and are never home to collect it so we end up taking it in!!!And it drives me mad! Last year they had even put our address on some of the stuff! and although the delivery people put a card through their door to say where it is they never come and pick it up- they wait for us to take it round! This so petty i know but it drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're not even especially friendly with them- just to say hello to.And the delivery guys always turn up when i'm to my ears in dirty nappy or something!!!
anyone else got any thing petty to vent?

I'm only a 5 foot woman alexsmum - but still, not exactly invisible!

hunkermunker · 28/11/2005 00:37

Asda in Watford has two "mum-to-be" spaces!

sparklymieow · 28/11/2005 00:38

I love the looks I get from the older genaration when I pull up in my MPV, and I get out, all mobile and NOT disabled, you can see them itching to have a go at me, till I get DS's wheelchair out and you see them blush and look away fast

sparklymieow · 28/11/2005 00:39

we have mum-to-be spaces too

handlemecarefully · 28/11/2005 00:40

sparkly - you little terror you. I betcha enjoy it. I would too

sparklymieow · 28/11/2005 00:42

I do, its fun, we have had people shout at us before about parking in the disabled bays, until we tell them that DS and DD1 are disabled and both have a badge, they soon shut up and drive off embarrassed....

alexsmum · 28/11/2005 00:42

ok heres another one of mine- people who sit or stand in the space on the bus for pushchairs and don't move when you get on so you have to hove rin the aisle with buggy while everyone pushes past

you know all of these irritations concern manners...it people being rude basically that wind us up.

Now this hugely pisses me off big time_ ; people who use the elevator (during busy times) when they don't have a pushchair or wheelchair when there is a perfectly serviceable flight of stairs / elevator near by. Grrrrr! - the amount of times the lift door has opened and there has been no room for me and pushchair and yet the occupants had other means of reaching their destination not available to me. I generally sound off loudly in these circumstances...

foundintranslation · 28/11/2005 00:48

yes, people being rude or not able/bothered to put themselves in your position for a second.
all sorts of things like that wind me up. like people not saying please to waitresses. or getting into trains while you're still waiting to get out. (what's the rush?!) etc. etc.

hunkermunker · 28/11/2005 00:50

Tipping in restaurants - ie being expected to for shit or mediocre service - that pisses me off.

I do say please and thank you to waiting staff. But I don't think they should be tipped simply for doing their job.

foundintranslation · 28/11/2005 00:50

hmc - am with you there. once spent 15 mins waiting for a lift while it took, first, all the unimpeded people and then the people with bikes (some of whom could have carried theirs) and THEN (only then!) the others with wheel- /pushchairs.

handlemecarefully · 28/11/2005 00:51

Well this thread has done something for me - I have resolved to be more outwardly and obviously grateful to my neighbours for their parcel accepting services (really! - am being serious)

foundintranslation · 28/11/2005 00:52

if service is good I tip generously, if not I give a very token tip.
here it's very common to hear people just saying to waiters 'two beers' (or whatever). can't stand that.

foundintranslation · 28/11/2005 00:54

think I'll risk bed (say risk as I've got ds, who clearly takes after me in being a light and bad sleeper, in my arms). night.

handlemecarefully · 28/11/2005 00:55

Good night. I'm off too!

alexsmum · 28/11/2005 00:59

yes- i have vented my anger , i too should go to bed. busy day tomorrow being angry!! night night!

I'm s'posed to be up at 06.15 tomorrow for work

Twiglett · 28/11/2005 06:17

I'm happy to take in neighbour's parcels but then they do the same for me

if it bothers you, have you tried not opening your door? or asking them to get parcels delivered to work?

PennyLess · 28/11/2005 07:03

Only read start of post but my neighbours do exactly the same. They are both out at work all day. And they do come to collect their parcels but again it's always when I'm in the middle of something. Why don't they get them delivered to work?
