It's that time of year again.Christmas is coming and my neighbours start doing their online christmas shopping and are never home to collect it so we end up taking it in!!!And it drives me mad! Last year they had even put our address on some of the stuff! and although the delivery people put a card through their door to say where it is they never come and pick it up- they wait for us to take it round! This so petty i know but it drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're not even especially friendly with them- just to say hello to.And the delivery guys always turn up when i'm to my ears in dirty nappy or something!!!
anyone else got any thing petty to vent?

I am sahm most of week now - work 2 days - and yes I am still busy, but not half as much as I used to be when I worked full time. It was much, much tougher ime.

Not saying that you aren't busy alexmum just saying that working long hours can make life more difficult for certain chores that need doing.

alexsmum · 27/11/2005 23:49

handle me, do you work full time now?

Soapbox - perhaps you could move in next to me, and we could have a reciprocal parcel acceptingn thang going on?

sparklymieow · 27/11/2005 23:50

I take in parcels for my neighbours, doesn't bother me, as they all come and pick them them up, was very nervous that apemans' parents might have a parcel delivered while all that stuff was going on but luckily they didn't, a few weeks back I took in a parcel for the lady 3 doors up, she collected it.

Tortington · 27/11/2005 23:50

i'd take it in - but i wouldnt take it round am not a fking postwoman.

i think its cheeky for your neighbours to assume you haven't got a life and dont go out.

alexsmum · 27/11/2005 23:52

and you know i might be petty and smallminded and unsympathetic the needs of our oh so busy neighbours, but i have taken all the parcels in, delivered them to their house and been polite about it. so i don't think i'm that bad.

soapbox · 27/11/2005 23:52

Well, I do take them round because the posties don't always remember to leave a card. My neighbours do the same for us!

Gratitude all round

handlemecarefully · 27/11/2005 23:52

Alexsmum - well yes because I'm a mum

alexsmum · 27/11/2005 23:53

I think it is the rudeness and the assumption that you will do it that is annoying you. You would like some thnaks and consideration, that's all. Perhaps you do have a point. As I say I would refuse to take them - why not put a sign up on your door to that effect so you aren't disturbed!

handlemecarefully · 27/11/2005 23:55

Awww - alexsmum, just read your post further down, and no you're not petty and small minded bless you, but I do think you are reading too much into this. I don't think your neighbours are assuming that you have bugger all to do all day so can accept their parcels - i really don't think that is it.....

bauble99 · 27/11/2005 23:55

Taking in the odd parcel is OK. But using your name and address for delivery without asking is a bit bloomin' cheeky. I would have words and a few Paddington Bear stares wouldn't go amiss either.

alexsmum · 27/11/2005 23:56

absolutely santabops. if they had once knocked and said' we are doing all our xmas shopping online and as we at work, would you mind taking in some parcels for us please'? i don't hink i would mind.

DH registered his business with our home address and we got post that needs to be signed off almost every day, sometimes several times a day, and it can be quite irritating.

I would say that receiving your neighbour's delieveries is OK as long as it doesn't happen very often or you have agreed to receive them for them, but I believe neither of these are the case for ALexmum.

alexsmum · 27/11/2005 23:58

bauble- their name , my address.bloody cheeky!!!!

i was hoping that everyone would start telling about minor things that get their goat so i wouldn't feel so small....but looks like it's just me

Alexsmum, I've posted tonight about someone sniffing on a train annoying me, so not just you on the petty front here

I think that it's nice to take parcels in for people (I always do), but I wouldn't ever use a neighbour's address

Have used my parents and in-laws address (but asked them first).

And I always go round to collect parcels that have been taken in for us, unless our neighbours see us arrive home, then they usually come round with them.

handlemecarefully · 28/11/2005 00:02

Let's see...it really irritates me when people don't raise their hands in acknowledgement when I give way to them (when driving) - it makes me want to rip their larynx out with my teeth....

Will that do you Alexsmum?

foundintranslation · 28/11/2005 00:02

we have to do this for neighbours occasionally, as do they for us. and occasionally is fine. if it was all the time though, that would start to get my goat. and as for giving your address without asking - . I would ask them in no uncertain terms not to do this again. and if they come at an inconvenient time for you, don't answer the door.

Also get seriously pissed off when in a supermarket with 3 items in my basket and the person in front of me with a full trolley doesn't let me go first and / or doesn't put the 'shopping divider thingy' down to separate their shopping from mine.

hmc thats bad manners. i always put the shopping divider down after my shopping. and i offer to let people do first if they have acouple of items and i am still unloading. grrrr for you.

handlemecarefully · 28/11/2005 00:07

Or when in a queue and the dozy mare (or stallion - don't want to be sexist) hasn't quite got it together and asks all sorts of inane questions thus prolonging their "client - staff" interaction and delaying mine.

misdee · 28/11/2005 00:08

i hate it when the cashier decides to gossip with her collegues/friends and doesnt pay attention and squashes my loaf. i hate squashed bread. grrrrrr.
