Sorry, I know this is such a silly question but am trying to create a link to another thread and I haven't a clue how to do it...

Erm - well, another website might have it's own way of inerting links, but the simplest way would be to just copy the URL from the MN thread, and paste it into the website. It might "become" a link automatically, or people would just copy and past it into their address bar to view...
