...have tried to make these before using a friend's recipe- cloves,oranges and orris root but they turned mouldy - anyone got any ideas ?

Maybe you need to dry them???

(Low oven???)

Mmmmmmmm! My friend used to make these. I'll ask her how she stopped them from going mouldy. I think she used to pack them with cloves so there was no orange visible.

You have to dry them out. The orris root will help to preserve them, but after you've finished making them you should wrap them in tissue paper and leave them in a cool, dry place for two to four weeks.

yes,Ileft these ones in the airing cupboard (according to my instructions) - after studding with cloves and tossing in orris root..
