Make Up!

OK, trivial question of the day. I will admit to you all that I can't leave the house without putting on foundation (and lipstick, but that's it) and for years I used an Elizabeth Arden Oilfree foundation which was fab. EA discontinued it - I hate it when they do that! I bought the 'alternative', it's called SmartWear, SPF15. The thing is, I'm sure it's bringing me out in zits, which I can do without.
I get the odd two or three anyway, I have that combination, t-zone skin, but I'm slapping on the Clearasil like there's no tomorrow at the moment.
Foundation is the only thing that I splash out on and I can't afford to make expensive make-up mistakes.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Can I just say thanks to this thread esp Jodee as I went to the Clinique counter yesterday and bought some superfit foundation - its fab, the colour is perfect and even my partner commented on how good my skin looked with it on!

Well done Enid! Clinique should pay us commission for all this free advertising we are doing.

Thanks again Lizzer for pointing us in the right direction.

Kylie, Are you still out there? I'm looking for make up for Christmas for my 18 year old goddaughter, and want to look vaguely streetwise!!
What's hot and what's not?
Any pointers gratefully received... or it'll be a Boots token!!
Thanks!

How do you get the make-up counter people to do you over? Does one generally need an appointment or can you just turn up & look hopeful (desperate?)

My dh calls women from the north east the 'tango women' because they tend to plaster their foundation on with a trowell and have their lipstick like that. They also spend loads of time on the sun bed. He's from the north east so I suppose he's entitled to his opinion but I'm sorry if it offends any north eastern women out there. He also says they never shut up and that's why he's so quiet!! I like the women who wear their blue eyeshadow like a pantomine dame (a la Barbara Cartland) - do they never look in the mirror before they go out?
