how do I 'flip' letters in word?

I think you can do it using Wordart (iirc as an image object)

Create your text in wordart (insert menu, select wordart).
Type text.
On the drawing toolbar, select rotate or flip, and flip horizontal.

Bit late now, but I think my version of Word has a "print as mirror image" option.
