i wouldnt either. a lot of these groups expect cause your child goes you should be doing your bit too, but they cant expect when you have 3 other small kids.

Maddison · 16/11/2005 13:44

Yep I think that's a bit long too. I wouldn't like to think I had to occupy other children for that long.

How old are they and how long is the bring and buy sale likely to last?

GREATauntymandy · 16/11/2005 13:45

cant you get someone to have the other children?

LIZS · 16/11/2005 13:47

That is way too much for one evening.

90 mins is too long for a childrens' service for starters Rickman, and then factoring rehearsal time and the Bring and Buy...actually I think it's probably too long for your oldest, never mind the rest of the family. Especially if it's a school night. How old is dd?

GREATauntymandy · 16/11/2005 14:00

you dont need to be there for rehearsals. So you are looking at a couple of hours

Far toooooooooooooooooooooooo loooooooooooooooong

LIZS · 16/11/2005 14:49

Is there anyone else near you who could take dd for 4pm so you avoid waiting that hour. You don't have to stay for the B and B, just turn up say hello, sorry but the younger ones are now tired and need their beds and leave !

GREATauntymandy · 16/11/2005 14:51

it should be a child friendly affair. So the children should be ok. You can always take them out if they get too restless.
Why dont you suggets the bring and buy is in the rehearsal time?

Skribble · 16/11/2005 17:33

I would drop her off for rehersals and go and find something else to do until 5pm, quick looka round sale after and away by 6:50pm. It seems a bit much for one night as presumably some of the Brownies will be manning stalls.

I would try to work something out so she doesn't miss out. I would explain to DD that if the little ones play up you may have to leave the service so they don't ruin it. that way she knows why you had to go out.

Perhaps go and get a snack for the little ones while she is in the rehearsal. Or even just take them for a walk. There must be some shops or a park nearby.

at least its all over in one night!!!
