To be closer to family?

whatever the reason make it sound positive and life enhancing..vibe is that the house has been wonderful for you but now you are moving on eg raising capital to invest in your successful business, buying a home abroad so that you can spend three months of the year there etc

That is true as we intend to buy a home for ourselves and then a buy to let when we are settled.Don't want them thinking we are well off though as we aren't atm!

I wouldn't bother about them thinking you are well off, that's good it's thinking you are desperate for the money or divorcing or escaping the neighbours that's bad

If your house is in good condition, why not say you are moving to start a new renovation project? My old neighbours said that to me (don't know if it was true or not, but they had certainly done loads to their house and didn't have anything else to do to it, so it made sense). Funnily enough, it was us who moved in the end (dh got new job) not them!

Why not just say that you really love the house, but it is just too big for you?
