does anyone know? long reason why, so i wont explain, but i only want to change my name by omitting one of my middle names - if i did this would i have to change everything else ie house deeds etc or for the sake of a missing middle name would it not matter too much as long as i have certificate to show name changed if ever needed? thanks

I changed my name by deed poll when I was 16 to Puffy-blue Eyes. Only joking! I did change my name to deedpoll when I was 16, to my step-dad's surname. Back then, we had to go through a solicitor, but now you can go over the net. From a personnal point of view, I dont think it would matter too much. Maybe contact Citzen Advice? I used my step-dads surname on temporary passports and E111 forms long before I had it changed with the post offices consent. I would risk it. It would only matter if you were in a desperate situ and if it came to it, you could claim ignorance if it wasnt stated on the deedpoll application that you need to change it. You will have the correct documentation to support this. Of course, this is in my Opinion and I do tend to take the odd calculated risk, but as, I say, you will have enough documentation if you needed it. we really need a solicitor mum to post. A friend of mine has two surnames. 1 on her birth certificate, another on her passport.
