Have you deleted old Temporary internet files recently to release memory - Tools/Internet options/Delete files(under Temporary Internet Files)

SenoraPostrophe · 12/11/2005 14:50

it's probably the dns settings that are wrong. you need to phone support at your isp.

hub2dee · 12/11/2005 15:33

I would reboot, twice, and turn your router off for 30 seconds too.

Are you saying you can surf with other browsers and receive e-mail no prob ?

SoupDragon · 12/11/2005 15:44

Is your modem switched on?

I'm not being a smart ar$e - I've sat at my PC and sworn at not being about not being able to get web pages or email and my dear darling DS2 had switched the s*dding broadband modem off.

LIZS - Not a memory problem

SP - Have phoned ISP - all OK there.

hub2dee - how do I use other browsers. No cannot get emails either.

Soupy - yup modem switched on.

By the way - the problem is with my laptop ( wireless ) the desktop is OK. The ISP says that I must be blocking it somehow ...

I had this problem recently, something to do with DNS settings - ie I couldn't browse webpages directly but had to enter the IP address instead. Eventually got it sorted out but still get the same problem recurring now and again (I think it is iTunes that is messing things up) - can generally solve it by resetting my wireless router.

Off to reset the wireless router .....lets hope that works !!
Thanks

I didn't realise you had a router. If you phoned your isp and they didn't tell you to reset it, you should complain - it's a very common problem (the other one is changed dns settings which they could have talked you through fixing)
