tarantula · 11/11/2005 15:36

carly82 · 11/11/2005 15:38

i agree with lummox on this one i got my ol trusty calculator out and worked the vat out (at 17.5%) and it came to £294.79

zippitippitoes · 11/11/2005 15:39

Thanks yes 17.5

i had a bit of a brainstorm doing it for some reason and it's to send out so don't want to look foolish

No - was me being dopey. £294 is the VAT on a net figure of £1684.50. £250.88 is the VAT on a net figure of £1433.62

Thanks for the support, though!

zippitippitoes · 11/11/2005 15:48

It was me writing it down backwards and confusing you!

I'm not used to doing big sums!

Zippi, Yes your calculation is correct. Divide inc VAT amount by 1.175 to get before VAT amount. To calculate the other way multiply by 1.175.
